In a bid to retain the National Rugby Sevens Series, title holders Kobs are eager to maintain their winning form in the 2021 Guinness 7s when they travel to Gulu for the second event of the season dubbed Northern Circuit that will hosted by local outfit Elephants on Saturday at Gulu Rugby Grounds.

Kobs won the opening circuit of the series when they beat perennial rivals Black Pirates 21-17 over the weekend in the finals of the Mileke 7s that was hosted by Warriors at Legends Grounds in Kampala.

After one outing, Kobs lead the Guinness 7s with 22 points, three ahead of Pirates. Heathens who beat Buffaloes 17-14 in the 3/4 placement fixture of the first circuit are third with 17 points, two ahead of the latter.

Kobs’ Captain Joseph Aredo who was MVP in the opening circuit is eager to put up a good show in Gulu.

“Our personal and team targets are still the same, that is to win every circuit,” Aredo said recently adding that; “we have to improve on our kickoff restarts and receiving and also better defence if we’re to remain the top side.”

With the winner of each circuit always set to walk home with Sh500,000 from Guinness Uganda, Kobs are keen on triumphing on each outing and also claim the overall winning prize of Sh3,000,000 after the finale.

However, other top sides notably Black Pirates and Heathens are keen on triumphing in Gulu hence it won’t be a walk in the park for Kobs.

However, local outfit Gulu City Falcons will also be in the mix and will show case their talent on a huge platform.
