The inaugural Immy Mudoola Cup will be played on Saturday, 9th October 2021 at Kyadondo Rugby Club in Kampala. The tourney will be graced by U-20 girls in a bid to celebrate women’s rugby.

“The Immy Mudoola Cup will be an annual Girls development Cup that brings together girls to play and celebrate growth and development of women’s rugby,” Uganda Rugby Union (URU) said in a missive after confirming the event.

The Cup is in honor of Mrs Immy Mudoola for her excellent contribution towards women’s rugby, both senior women and girls.

Mrs Mudoola also served on the former Uganda Women’s Rugby Association excom as Vice president in it’s inception and was behind the formation and growth of a couple of the women’s clubs/teams. She hosted Thunderbirds for a fully funded camp in Iganga ahead of crucial fixtures like the Brown University game against Thunderbirds.

According to URU, the inaugural edition will feature the U20 women’s category only to serve as the launch.

“The Immy Mudoola Cup will also help age grade female players prepare for a structured transition from young players growth through a smooth pathway preparing them for national team and senior club competitions,” URU added.

This annual Cup will be used as a tool to encourage senior players engage with the age grade/upcoming players and mentor them to be the best players.

The confirmed teams for the event are; AQRA, Black Opals, Kyadondo Pigeons & Kisubi Lady Pacers.
