The Fortebet Real Stars Sports Monthly Awards have once again recognized Uganda’s top-performing athletes, with cricket sensation Juma Miyaji taking center stage as the cricket category winner for February 2025.
The awards ceremony was held today at Lazio Bar and Restaurant in Kololo, Kampala.
Miyaji, Uganda’s first-choice pace bowler, played a crucial role in the Cricket Cranes’ unbeaten run in the second round of the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup Challenge League B in Hong Kong.
His standout performance came against Tanzania, where he was named Player of the Match after claiming six wickets for just 17 runs in 8.1 overs.
Miyaji finished the tournament as the highest wicket-taker, with 12 wickets from 123 balls—six against Tanzania, four against Bahrain, and two against Hong Kong.
He edged out fellow nominees Henry Ssenyondo and Raghav Dhawan, who also delivered commendable performances but could not outshine Miyaji’s dominance in Hong Kong.

In basketball, Uganda Gazelles star Jane Asinde emerged victorious after being named MVP of the FIBA Zone Afro-Basket Qualifier.
Asinde led Uganda to a remarkable 74-63 triumph over Egypt in the final, averaging 18.8 points, 10 rebounds, and 4.8 assists per game throughout the tournament.
Her standout game saw her score 28 points against South Sudan. Asinde beat out strong competition from fellow nominees Shillah Lamunu and John Deng Geu.
Football honors went to Lugazi FC striker Abdul Kalanzi, who enjoyed a stellar month with four goals in four games—two in the Uganda Premier League and two in the Uganda Cup.
His contributions helped Lugazi FC qualify for the last 16 of the Uganda Cup with a 2-0 win over Calvary, where he found the back of the net.
Kalanzi triumphed over nominees Allan Okello and Patrick Kaddu.
The Tuesday awards session was graced by Real Stars Sports Agency CEO, Isaac Mukasa, ForteBet assistant media manager Resty Mbatidde and Henry Zzimbe from Jude Color Solutions who are partners.
