The Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) successfully concluded a two-day High Performance workshop at Hotel Africana, led by Edward Khoza, Cricket South Africa’s High Performance Manager. The workshop brought together over 30 key stakeholders to advance talent identification, mass participation pathways, hub programs, and high-performance culture within Ugandan cricket.

Day One focused on inclusive talent programs, including Mini Cricket and Hubs programs, as well as benchmarking key organizational structures from Cricket South Africa. Day Two emphasized strategic planning and the development of a High Performance framework for UCA.

“Performance comes from action,” said Edward Khoza, inspiring coaches, administrators, and support staff to collaborate across disciplines to raise standards in Ugandan cricket. Richard Okia, UCA Head of High Performance & Pathways, added, “Interaction, structure, and reporting lines are key. We want to move forward with pathways while ensuring our High Performance structure is fully operational.” UCA Hon. Secretary Denis Musali said; “it was time for us to be intentional.”

The workshop united national team coaches, backroom staff, UCA secretariat office workers, elite volunteers, development coaches, hub coaches, and UCA board members, who all hailed the event as a “game-changer” for cricket in Uganda.

Attendees included; Deus Muhumuza, Brian Masaba, Grace Mutyagaba, Development Manager Davis Turinawe, Head of HPP Richard Okia, Jackson Ogwang, Joshua Mwanja, Davis Karashani, Emmanuel Isaneez, Felix Musana, Naomi Kayondo, Sandra Acwao, Shakira Saddik, Roger Mukasa, Imam Tugume, Charles Waiswa, Rokani Sylvester, Jeff Kasozi, Alvin Bagaya, Hon Secretary Denis Musali, Female Representative on UCA Board Lelia Namaganda Ondeko, Ivan Thawithemwira, Robinson Turinawe, Psychologist & Lead Communication Edgar Kazibwe, Head of Umpires Patrick Makimbi, Rita Tinka, Chairman Jackson Kavuma, CEO Evelyn Shinyekwa Kabongerwa, Accountant Emmanuel Onoria and Media Coordinator Ivan Sajjabi.

This first-of-its-kind workshop marks a pivotal step in shaping the future of cricket in Uganda, creating a unified approach to high performance across all levels.
