The Uganda Ladies Golf Union (ULGU) has officially flagged off the national ladies golf team ahead of the 2026 All Africa Challenge Trophy (AACT), scheduled for November 2–7 at the IBB International Golf and Country Club in Abuja, Nigeria.
Uganda will be represented at the continental women’s amateur golf competition by Keisha Kagoro, Harsshitha Loganathan and Judith Komugisha, who will compete against leading national teams from across Africa.
The team’s participation reflects Uganda’s ambition to strengthen its presence in women’s golf on the continental stage, while building on ongoing efforts to develop competitive talent and create more opportunities for female golfers.
This year’s selection also marks a significant step in the implementation of the Uganda Golf Union’s (UGU) High Performance Programme, which seeks to strengthen the pathway from player development to national team representation.
Through the programme, the Union aims to provide talented golfers with greater competitive exposure, structured preparation and a clearer route to representing Uganda at regional, continental and international competitions. Selection for major events is increasingly being linked to players’ participation and performance within the programme.
Speaking at the flag-off, ULGU Lady President Rita Apell Akot emphasised the importance of national representation and the need to establish a sustainable development pathway for women golfers.
“Representing Uganda is one of the highest honours we can give our players. Beyond competing in Abuja, our focus is on building a sustainable pipeline of women golfers who are prepared, competitive and confident enough to represent Uganda at the highest level. The High Performance Programme is central to that journey,” Akot said.
The Union continues to work with golf clubs across the country to ensure national team members and other High Performance Programme players have access to training facilities and competitive opportunities.
ULGU also acknowledged the contribution of the Uganda Golf Union, golf clubs, partners, sponsors, coaches, families and the wider golf community in supporting the growth and development of women’s golf in the country.
Uganda’s participation in the AACT forms part of the Union’s broader strategy to nurture emerging talent, strengthen the national player development pathway, promote junior and women’s golf, and improve the country’s competitiveness in international events.
