Kenya reclaimed the Victoria Cup after defeating hosts Uganda 15.5–10.5 in the 2026 edition of the annual golf showdown held at Entebbe Golf Club on Saturday.
The victory restored Kenya’s dominance in the tournament, which brings together top amateur golfers from Kenya and Uganda in a friendly but fiercely contested rivalry.
Led by captain Elvis Muigua, the Kenyan side delivered a strong performance across the three days of competition, establishing an early advantage that Uganda struggled to overturn.
Kenya made the first statement on Thursday during the opening foursomes, edging Uganda 2.5–1.5. They tightened their grip in the four-ball matches later in the day, producing a commanding 3.5–0.5 result to end the opening day in control.
The momentum continued on Friday morning, with Kenya once again dominating the foursomes session by the same 3.5–0.5 margin. By the time the morning round concluded, Kenya had stretched their lead significantly, leaving Uganda with a mountain to climb.
Uganda fought back in the afternoon four-ball matches, winning the session 3.5–1.0 to narrow the gap and keep their hopes alive heading into the final day.
Saturday’s singles matches proved evenly balanced, with both teams sharing the session at 5.5 points apiece. However, Kenya’s earlier dominance ensured they comfortably secured the overall victory.
The triumph marks another chapter in Kenya’s strong record in the Victoria Cup, a competition established in 2016 by former Boston Marathon champion Moses Tanui to strengthen sporting ties between the two neighboring nations.
Despite Uganda claiming the trophy in 2025, Kenya’s win in Entebbe sees them reclaim bragging rights in the cross-border golfing rivalry.
