New StarTimes Uganda Premier league entrants Kyetume FC have unveiled their squad ahead of the 2019/20 opener on Thursday at the Namboole stadium.

Kyetume, who got the ticket to the top flight via play-offs, will host the faded record 16-time champions SC Villa in a game that will be played under flood lights.

Unveiling the new players at Jobia Hotel in Mukono on Monday, club president Reuben Kaggwa Mubiru said that their target is not only to avoid relegation in their debut season, but also finish in a respectable position.

“We have worked hard and prepared enough. We have put club structures and we look forward to our fans’ support.  As the management, we have a Shs836m for the entire season, an increase from the Shs267m we used to earn promotion from the FUFA Big league last season,” noted Mubiru, who also revealed Community based health care (CBHC) –a non government organization based in Kyetume, as their main funders per now although more corporate organizations expected.

Kyetume under experienced coach George Best has acquired a big number of experienced players in the transfer market who are expected to blend well with the teenage players.

“We can’t promise winning a title now, but we have come to compete. We have a balanced squad of both experienced and young players who I believe will help us stay in the league and also finish in at least top teams (above 8th position) in our debut season,” noted Nsimbe, who succeeded Jackson Mayanja about four months ago after the the latter had led the side to premier league.

Kyetume FC comes from former top flight side Lufula FC that went defunct during the NRM liberation war in early 1980s.

New players:

Baker Buyala (Tooro United), Robert Wulube (UPDF), Joel Mutakuba (Tooro United), Salim Sowed (Sony Sugar), Jonathan Mugabi (Vihiga United), Julius Ntambi (free), Derrick Ochen (URA), Steven Kagoda (Manyangwa), Sam Senkomi (free), Emanuel Obua (Bukedea TC), Isaac Kirabira (free), Musa Ssali (Maroons), Mikel Ange (Man FC), Sheif Batte (Maroon) and Noel Nasasira).
