Kenya is set to host the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2027 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) at the newly constructed Talanta Sports City Stadium, according to a recent announcement by the Office of the State House Spokesperson.
This stadium, under construction at the Jamhuri Grounds, will be a significant sports arena accommodating 60,000 spectators and meeting FIFA standards.
The stadium’s completion is anticipated by December 2025, with construction overseen by the Kenya Defence Forces under the Ministry of Sports.
Kenya, Uganda, and Tanzania will jointly host the tournament, with other matches scheduled at Moi International Sports Centre, Nyayo Stadium, Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, CCM Kirumba Stadium, Mandela Stadium, and Nakivubo Stadium.
