It was an evening of excitement on Friday as lucky customers left for Egypt to have a glimpse of this year’s AFCON finals in Egypt.

A team of four, including two Airtel money customers and agents left Entebbe airport at 4am (Saturday) for Cairo where they watched the Cranes taking on hosts and record 7-time champions Egypt on Sunday at the Cairo international stadium.

The four are part of the ten customers and Airtel money agents in total that came out lucky winners after the raffle draw.

The quartet was seen off by Airtel-Uganda marketing director Remmy Kisakye at the company head quarters in Kampala before embarking on the journey to the airport.

Ronald Domu, a dealer in waste papers at Nasser road had no passport by the time he received a call from Airtel-Uganda and the excitement ahead of his maiden flight could not be held back.

“I thank Airtel-Uganda for the opportunity to fly. I had no passport and they helped me get one. I thought it was not real when I received a call that I had won a trip to AFCON but then when I called customer care numbers and I got proof, I could not hold back the excitement. I want to see Liverpool FC’s Mohammed Salah live in action and many other stars,” noted Domu.

“I just used Airtel Money to pay for bills, buy airtime and data as well as sending and receiving money. Then my number was drawn in the ‘Sukuma cash’ promotion to win. Others win cash daily,” he added.

Other trip winners are Moses Ebuku Silver –a mobile money agent from Oyam district, Peter Esele –an Airtel money customer from Kira municipality and Isaac Mawanda, an Airtel money agent from Butambala district.

The four will also visit exciting places in Egypt on their tour with all expenses paid by Airtel-Uganda.
