Angels Beef Up Squad As NBL Returns

After over a one-year hiatus, the National Basketball League (NBL) for both men and women will tip-off today, Saturday, 17th April 2021 at the Kampala International University (KIU) basketball court in Kansanga.

Matchday two of the opening weekend of NBL will be played tomorrow (Sunday) at the Uganda Christian University (UCU) basketball courts in Mukono.

The two universities will host all the 2021 regular season matches with the league set to be played in only one round.

Women’s outfit Angels will be in action on Sunday at 2 p.m against 2017 champions UCU Lady Canons in Mukono.

Angels who are in pursuit for a maiden women’s championship recently confirmed six new signings as they attempt to hunt for silverware.

The new players are; rookie Patricia Nekesa, Peace Kirabo, Denise Tekitendwa, Suzan Amito, Sylvia Florence Nanyonga and Linda Nakalembe.

Elizabeth Akol will lead the team as Captain. Martha Likicho will be the team’s Vice Captain.

The team has been doing its drills at City High and could be in great shape for the Lady Canons meet.

Ruth Kirungi, Annet Nakibuuka, Cathy Amusugut, Martha Likicho, Elizabeth Akol, Patricia Nekesa, Peace Kirabo, Ritah Komugisa, Grace Kwarisiima, Denise Tekitendwa, Sharon Gubamwoyo, Grace Kusaba, Suzan Amito, Sylvia Florence Nanyonga and Linda Nakalembe.
