Apolot to fight in Austria

Uganda’s finest female kick boxer Patricia Apolot was on Thursday flagged off by National Council for Sports (NCS) to Austria where she will have two non tile fights this month. The ‘Black Pearl’ will fight Hungarian Boglarka Bother, a former amateur junior boxing champion, this Saturday in Sopron, Austria before facing Serbian Branka Arambasic on March 30. Apolot believes that the two fights will help her prepare for the world title fight slated for May this year. “I thank NCS for the support and I urge them to help sportsmen and women require diplomatic passports,” she noted. “I am delighted that I will have two fights in Austria, I believe they will help me prepare for world title fight slated in May this year,” added Apolot, who was flagged off by NCS’ David Katende, the assistant secretary general. “We have worked hand in hand with the ministry of foreign affairs to deal with sportsmen and women who travel to other countries to get passports early enough. The ministry put in place a sports diplomacy desk which will be responsible to all our representatives in sports to acquire visas early enough,” explained Katende. Apolot will defend her world kickboxing title against Romanian Adriana Tatu, a former European WKF Pro K1 champion, in Szeged- Hungary on May 11 this year.
