Day Two of the Boundary Banters T20 League at the Florida Cricket Oval delivered an entertaining contest as Africa Cricket Club (ACC) and Centurion CC shared honours in a fiercely contested double-header on Saturday.
The two sides each secured one victory in a day marked by disciplined bowling, resilient batting performances, and standout displays from Robert Owili, who claimed back-to-back Player of the Match awards.
In the opening fixture, ACC won the toss and elected to bat first but struggled to establish momentum against a disciplined Centurion bowling attack. ACC closed their innings on 86/9 in 20 overs, with Robert Owili providing the main resistance through a fighting 37 off 25 deliveries.
Centurion’s chase was equally challenging, as ACC’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings. However, composed contributions from Godfrey Ejidra (25) and Andrew Nyumba (16) steadied the pursuit before Conrad Lubwama guided the side home with an unbeaten 20.
Centurion CC eventually reached 87/6 in 16.1 overs to secure a four-wicket victory.
Despite ending on the losing side, Owili’s all-round contribution earned him the Player of the Match accolade.
ACC returned strongly in the afternoon encounter to level the day’s proceedings with an eight-run win.
Batting first once again, ACC posted an improved total of 120/6 in their allotted 20 overs. Robert Owili continued his impressive form with a fluent 51 off 43 balls, while Hemant Hiran added 22 and Jignesh Vekariya chipped in with 16 to help build a competitive score.
Centurion CC mounted a spirited chase, led by Allan Ssemakula and Brian Mark Masaba, who both scored 23 runs. However, ACC’s bowlers held their nerve during the closing stages to dismiss Centurion for 112 in 19.2 overs.
Owili’s consistency with both bat and ball once again proved decisive, earning him a second consecutive Player of the Match award.
The Boundary Banters League continues on May 30, when Centurion CC will face Mukono Development as the tournament gathers momentum.
