KCCA vs URA, Lugogo

URA FC are set to lose influential Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Ivan Kakembo, who is being courted by another premier league side, according to reports.

Kakembo, who joined the Tax Collectors last year, has since organized the management structure of the four-time champions –establishing a functional club secretariat for the first in the URA FC history, as well as opening an independent club bank account which did not go well with senior URA officers.

The former SC Villa CEO is believed to be the favorite for the vacant CEO role at Jinja-based BUL FC.

The role fell vacant in August following the departure of Salmin Saleh whose contract was not renewed after match fixing allegations.

The BUL FC chairman Ronald Barente, who replaced Silva Ayiasi last week, has stepped up their pursuit of a new CEO and the vacancy has already been advertised to get the best suitable person for the job.

With Kakembo’s current tenure at URA ending this month, he is expected to be the favorite as he is a FUFA Certified Club CEO following a successful FUFA Administration and Management course.

Principled and professional, Kakembo is considered the ideal person to replace Saleh in order to add immense value to this well funded club that seems to lack direction. K

is also a CAF Club licensing certified, an expert in Commercial and Contract law, a consultant as well as a players’ and coaches’ representative.

He was a Sports Club Villa CEO between 2014 and 2018. At Villa, he was a core figure in securing StarTimes as club sponsors as well as bringing Rwenzori water on board at URA FC as official club beverage partners.

With his ability to form a strong partnership with the media, URA SC Villa and URA have enjoyed valuable media space.

He also worked as CEO at Nyamityobora and as a player recruitment analyst at the University of Pretoria.

Pepper Sport is yet to confirm whether URA FC intend to renew Kakembo’s contract despite the fact that club chairman James Kizza does not want to lose an industrious human resource in Kakembo following their good working relationship.
