Last year’s semi finalists Busoga province and quarter finalists Kampala region are seeking their first win of the 2019 campaign when they face-off this weekend at Kyabazinga stadium, Bugembe as the 2019 FUFA Drum tournament returns with three fixtures this Saturday and eight on Sunday.

Kampala lost at home to Rwenzori in the opener before losing 2-0 on trip to Tooro Province in the second fixture. Busoga meanwhile, were held 1-1 at home by Tooro and also picked a point from Rwenzori trip in their second game.

The search for first victory and depth of both squads makes the fixture a must watch especially after the conclusion of the Premier league and the promotional FUFA Big league regular season. In the other Group A fixture, Tooro province hosts Rwenzori at Paul’s Seminary grounds.

The hosts drew with Busoga and beat Kampala in the opening two games respectively while the visitors beat Kampala and drew with Busoga respectively.

After two outings, Tooro lead Group A with 4 points, only bettering second placed Rwenzori with (one) goal difference. Busoga comes third with two points while Kampala is disappointingly at the foot with no point.

Meanwhile, Lango host Sebei at UTC grounds in Lira for a group B tie. Lango are second in group with 3 points, 3 behind leaders and defending champions Buganda, who host Ankole at Ssaza grounds, Mityana on Sunday.

Ankole are third with 3 points, only trailing second placed Lango by (2) goal difference whilst winless Sebei sit at the bottom. Lango lost to Buganda in the opener before their 3-0 home win against Ankole while Sebei lost to Ankole and Buganda away and home respectively.

The FUFA Drum was invented by the federation last year to celebrate ancestry, rally patriotism and spread the game on top of discovery of fresh raw talents across the country.

FUFA put aside Shs100m in total prize money with the winner having Shs32m at stake, the runners up have Shs15m while each match day Man of the match earns Shs100,000 instantly.
