The Council of East and Central Africa Football Associations (CECAFA) successfully convened its Ordinary General Assembly in Juba, South Sudan, at the Imperial Plaza Hotel.
This landmark event brought together officials from all 12 member associations, alongside dignitaries from FIFA, CAF, and other regional football zones.
Dr. Joseph Geng Akech, South Sudan’s Minister of Youth and Sports, officially opened the assembly, celebrating the opportunity to host such a significant event for the first time.
“Football fosters peace, unity, and hope, especially for young people. We are honored to welcome CECAFA here,” he remarked.
CECAFA President Wallace Karia commended the region’s strides in football development, emphasizing the importance of hosting tournaments that enhance member associations’ competitive edge.
“It’s encouraging to see CECAFA teams excel on global stages like the FIFA U-17 World Cup,” Karia said.
