FUFA President and also newly elected CAF Executive Committee Member for CECAFA Eng. Moses Magogo, says that CECAFA needs concerted efforts to bring back the football glory days in the region.

Magogo, who wants the entire region needs to pull resources together, witnessed KCCA FC beat Azam FC 1-0 in the 2019 CECAFA Kagame Cup final in Kigali-Rwanda on Sunday for their second title after 1978 triumph.

“We shall hold a strategic meeting with all the FA Presidents of the CECAFA Region here in three weeks’ time. We must reorganize ourselves to stand any chance to compete favorably with the rest of the African teams on the continent,” noted Magogo.

“If we are to achieve our vision of becoming the number one football nation in Africa on and off the pitch we must have strong neighbors in football. My new position on the CAF Executive provides you the chance to contribute to the ideas related to football that may contribute to the development of the game,” added Magogo.

Magogo was heroically welcomed back from Cairo, Egypt on Monday by FUFA 2nd Vice President Darius Mugoye, 3rd Vice President Hon. Nakiwala Kiyingi and FUFA Exco Members; Hajji Abdu Sekabira, Ronnie Kalema and Hamid Juma, Hon. Hamson Obua (Ajuri County MP) and FUFA Deputy CEO Humphrey Mandu. Meanwhile Council of East and Central Africa Football Association (Cecafa) will have a new secretary-general from June 2020.

This is after current secretary Nicholas Musonye confirmed he will quit the position he has served for the last 20 years after the Cecafa Cup was staged in Kigali, Rwanda on Sunday.
