Uganda men’s national cricket team, Cricket Cranes delivered a dominant performance, securing an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Singapore in their second ICC Cricket World Cup Challenge League B match. This result follows their commanding 52-run win against Bahrain in the tournament opener.

Playing at Kowloon Cricket Club, a venue known for its batsmen-friendly boundaries, Uganda’s bowlers showcased remarkable discipline to restrict Singapore to 243/9 in 50 overs. Left-arm spinner Henry Ssenyondo spearheaded the attack, returning figures of 4/36 from nine overs, supported by Cosmas Kyewuta and Kenneth Waiswa with crucial wickets.

Uganda’s chase was equally clinical. Raghav Dhawan, in sublime form, anchored the innings with an unbeaten 71 off 66 balls—his second consecutive Player of the Match performance after an 84-run knock against Bahrain. Dhawan found a reliable partner in Alpesh Ramjani, who contributed a quick-fire 67* off 61 balls. Together, they stitched an unbeaten 121-run stand, propelling Uganda to 245/2 in just 40.4 overs.

Craig Williams, Uganda’s High Performance Consultant, praised the team’s adaptability. “Playing on a ground with such short boundaries, the bowlers showed tremendous discipline, and our batsmen paced the chase perfectly. We’re building momentum for the matches ahead,” he remarked.

Henry Ssenyondo expressed gratitude for being part of the squad and confidence in his role. “I’m happy to be drafted into the team and to contribute right away. I always believe in my abilities to deliver on any ground because I know I am the team’s best bowler. I always want to step up,” he said.

With this victory, Uganda sits atop the standings with 13 points as they gear up for their next match against Italy on Wednesday, February 12, at the same venue. The team continues its pursuit of securing a spot in the ODI-rated playoffs of the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup.
