Under fire Express FC head coach George Ssemwogerere will be seeking some bit of relief when his side takes on high flying Proline this Tuesday at the StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.

Express went into the international break on the low after a 1-0 home loss at rivals SC Villa at the Betway Muteesa II stadium, Wankulukuku while Proline are fresh from progressing to the pre-group stage of the 2019/20 CAF Confederations Cup.

The Stanbic Uganda Cup champions beat AS Kigali 2-1 at home on Saturday to progress 3-2 on aggregate after a 1-1 draw in Rwanda during the first leg. The Red Eagles are in the 13th position with 4 points from 5 games –having won one, drawn one and lost three.

Proline, who have played less games due to their engagement in the CAF Confederations Cup, are at the foot of the 16-team table with -3 points -having won once and lost twice in the three games played.

Proline’s failure to honor their home game against SC Villa led them to be docked 6 points and 6 goals from the already accumulated. Former Express coach Matia Lule is handling Proline now having led the Wankulukuku side to the Semi-finals of the 2017 Stanbic Uganda Cup and 8th place finish in the Premier league.

Lule, who joined Proline after the AFCON 2019 tournament where he was the assistant Uganda Cranes coach, replaced another former Express coach Shafiq Bisaso. The Red Eagles last played Proline in the league during the 2017/18 season before Proline were relegated to the Fufa Big League.

In the first round, the game ended 2-1 in favor of Express thanks to goals from Dan Sserunkuma and Mubarak Nsubuga while Moses Walusimbi scored for Proline. The second round game at Wankulukuku ended in a barren stalemate.

Frank Ssenyondo for the Red Eagles has been a shining light. The winger scored the side’s first goal of the season against Bright Stars but got injured against SC Villa. However, he returns fully fit for the tie to take up the right wing as Captain Disan Galiwango operates on the left.

Galiwango bagged two assists in Express FC’s only win (3-2) at Mbarara City. Express welcome goal keeper Tonny Kyamera after missing the last four games due to back pain and could take over from Joshua Adea. Goal keeper Mathias Muwanga and defender Emanuel Baffoe are out of the contest injured.
