The Federation of Motorsports Clubs of Uganda (FMU) has announced the postponement of Round 2 of the 2024 Sprint Championship, initially set for Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the Victoria Raceway Track. The decision comes as a result of ongoing financial challenges.
In a statement released on June 6, 2024, FMU emphasized that the quality and safety of their events are paramount. “Ensuring the quality and safety of our event is our top priority,” stated the FMU Management. “After extensive deliberation, it has become clear that postponing this event is the most responsible course of action given our current financial challenges.”
The organization expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to fans and participants who had registered for the event. FMU General Secretary Reynolds Kibira acknowledged the disappointment but assured the motorsport community that efforts are being made to address the financial issues. “We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience. We appreciate the continued support and patience of our competitors and the entire motorsport fraternity as we navigate through these challenging times.”
FMU is actively working on resolving the financial constraints and is confident that the Sprint Championship will be rescheduled in the near future. Updates on the new date and further details will be communicated as soon as they become available.
For ongoing updates, FMU encourages fans and participants to visit their official website at www.motorsportuganda.com or follow their social media channels.
Despite the postponement, FMU remains committed to its mission of promoting motorsports in Uganda and plans to proceed with the rest of the 2024 calendar as scheduled. “We thank everyone for their understanding and support during this time,” the statement concluded.
