Uganda’s athletes in Kho Kho, rally, and boxing have been recognized at the Fortebet Real Stars Sports Monthly Awards for January 2025 in an awards session held at Lazio Bar and Restaurant in Kololo, Kampala.

Grace Ojiru beat Erinah Nattabi and Rose Nankumba to claim the Kho Kho Player of the Month award after her exceptional display at the Kho Kho World Cup in India.

She played a pivotal role in Uganda’s historic bronze-winning campaign, finishing as the best player in two games against New Zealand and England.

Ojiru also secured the best chaser title against Australia and was named best defender against the Netherlands.

Uganda won four matches before bowing out in the semifinals against Nepal, finishing third alongside South Africa.

Rally winners celebrate their accolade

Rally – Lwakataka dominates Mbarara NRC opener

Ponsiano Lwakataka and co-driver Paul Musaazi outpaced rivals Ronald Sebuguzi & Anthony Mugambwa and Nasser Mutebi & Steven Bunya to clinch the Rally Driver of the Month award.

The Mafu Mafu team, driving a Subaru Impreza N12, emerged victorious in the first round of the National Rally Championship (NRC) in Mbarara, an event themed Lumala @60 Mama @90 birthday rally.

Lwakataka recorded an impressive winning time of 1 hour, 12 minutes, and 59.4 seconds, cementing his status as one of Uganda’s top rally drivers.

Boxer Alfred Ojok was best of January.

Boxing – Ojok stuns with first-round KO

Alfred Ojok delivered a dominant performance to claim the Boxer of the Month award, surpassing Majid Kabonge and Latibu Muwonge.

He made a sensational international debut at the Solidarity and Fraternity Boxing Night Gala in Tunisia, where he secured a first-round knockout victory against Libya’s Hamza Gazouini in the 75kg middleweight division.

The Tuesday awards session was graced by Real Stars Sports Agency CEO, Isaac Mukasa, ForteBet assistant media manager Resty Mbatidde and Henry Zzimbe from Jude Color Solutions who are partners.
