Fortebet are the new sponsors of the Real Stars sports monthly awards. The sponsorship was unveiled on Monday at the Cooper Chimney restaurant during the 7th edition. ForteBet that formerly sponsored the StarTimes Uganda premier league Man of the match will bankroll the awards on a monthly basis with an undisclosed fee.

Isaac Mukasa, the Real Sports Awards CEO, the firm behind the awards said that by ForteBet coming on board, they will be able to recognize more athletes. “We are grateful to ForteBet.They have devotedly supported Ugandan sport,” noted Mukasa.

URA FC players Cromwell Rwothomio and Saidi Kyeyune competed for the best of January’s accolade against Kawempe Muslim and Uganda U17 Girls striker Juliet Nalukenge who came on top to clinch the award. Her coach at both ends Ayub Khalifah was also nominated but lost to URA’s Sam Ssimbwa for the Coach of the month accolade. Bright Stars’ Coach Paul Kiwanuka was the other nominee. In Boxing, 2019 All Africa Games Silver medalists David Semujju and Masembe Isaac were nominated with female boxer Nassali Doreen but it was Masembe’s day at the end.

In rugby, Heathens duo of Joseph Oyet and Scot Olouch joined Betway Kobs’ Daudi Ssemwami on the list of nominees with Olouch coming on top. The sixth edition of the Awards was held in October last year at Tamarai restaurant in Kololo. Police’s Abdullah Mubiru and Vipers’ Fahad Bayo won the coach and player of the Football categories while Arthur Blick and Joshua Cheptegei won the Motorsport and athletics awards respectively.

The January awards had nominees from three disciplines; Football, Rugby and Boxing. Boxing and Rugby replaced Motorsport and athletics that appeared in the sixth edition. In football, there were Coach and player awards while Boxing and Rugby had players’ category only.

The Awards that aim at recognizing outstanding Sports personalities of a specific month are organized by Real Stars Sports Agency with ForteBet as the headline sponsors alongside Jude Color Solutions.
