FUFA have continued with their efforts to curb the growing vices of match fixing in Ugandan football with the local football governing body interrogating Onduparaka FC Chief Executive Officer Pius Bamwange on Friday. The interrogation stems from a statement by the about allegations on predetermination of results.
The Caterpillars claimed that they had been approached twice by individuals to enter into a deal of fixing their matches in exchange for money that ranges from $10000 and above. The individuals and players approached were not revealed and neither the person that was fronting the deal.
The Arua based side is said to have been approached for the match against Tooro United (with Onduparaka won by forfeiture) and the other against Wakiso Giants which they lost 1-0 on road. According to FUFA statement, the interrogations over this matter will also extend to two other officials at the club including the Chairman and Head of Marketing and Communication.
“FUFA is determined to protect the beautiful game by all means for all to enjoy clean football,” noted FUFA Communications manager Ahmed Hussein. Earlier on, Bamwange told this website that he had no knowledge over the statement.
