Local football governing body, FUFA (Federation of Uganda Football Associations) will hold its 97th Ordinary General Assembly on 21st August 2021 in Mbale.

The federation has stepped up preparations for the event, first with the distribution of the Convocation to the Delegates for the assembly, an activity done by the FUFA Secretariat. The documents are supposed to be received by member associations and delegates one month to the Assembly date as per the FUFA Statutes.

The documents dispatched are; Notice of 97th FUFA Ordinary General Assembly date and Venue communicated to public in media on 18th and 19th May 2021, Notice of 97th FUFA Ordinary General Assembly date and Venue communicated to Member Associations and Delegates on 20th May 2021, Agenda, Minutes of the 96th FUFA Ordinary General Assembly, Financial Statements for period ended December 2020, Budget 2022, FUFA Statutes, FUFA Electoral Documents and FUFA Activity Calendar

According to FUFA website, the assembly might be physical or virtual depending on communication and further guidance by government on the current Covid-19  42-day lockdown that expires at the end of this month.

“FUFA remains uncertain on what the Uganda government authorities will pronounce thereafter. FUFA will base on the government’s communication on whether to host the General Assembly physically in Mbale or evoke Article 27(2) which allows the General Assembly to be held virtually,” the federation said via its website.

“The FUFA Secretariat will provide the program and further information on the hosting of the Assembly (either physically or virtually) by Friday 6th August 2021 at the latest,” FUFA added.

At the moment, gatherings and other crowd pulling events are prohibited as a Covid-19 preventive measure.

According to FUFA, there are ongoing consultations with government through the National Council of Sports and requests made to organise a physical General Assembly in Mbale.

The Mbale AGM will be elective where the delegates will vote for the new FUFA President and the Executive Committee for the 2021-25 term. However, incumbent President Hon. Eng. Moses Magogo is unopposed and will be serving the football fraternity for a third term.
