“FUFA has made strides as a result of increased Government funding for the Uganda Cranes activities. We now have resources for other football activities and stakeholders to develop the game of football in Uganda,” Decolas Kiiza, the FUFA Finance director noted.

The support by FUFA comes after failure by local clubs to register and take part in respective tournaments due to financial hiccups and the federation’s move to wave off some of the expenses from the Uganda’s representatives at CAF Club competitions is welcome news, according to Proline FC Director Mugib Kasule whose side will represent the country at the forthcoming CAF Confederations Cup campaign after winning the Stanbic Uganda Cup last season at the same time earning promotion back to the premier league.

Proline, who are also the 2018/19 FUFA Big league champions, open the CAF Confederations Cup campaign against Master Security FC from Malawi at the preliminary round while reigning premier league champions KCCA FC start against African Stars of Namibia in the CAF Champions League at the same stage. KCCA are fresh from winning their second Cecafa title after 1978 success.

The Mike Mutebi side beat Azam FC of Tanzania in the final last weekend in Kigali.
