FUFA warns URA over interference of club secretariat work

Fufa has sent another warning to Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) over interfering with their club (URA FC) secretariat affairs. Recently, the authority’s Rubare Magezi from the internal audit department ordered for the raid of the club’s office with the security personel took off with all financial documents.

According to sources, the senior officers at the authority are not in agreement with opening up of an independent club account as required by Fufa under the club licensing regulations.

The federation requires every club to run its own independent accounts from their shareholders’ or mother bodies if any. FUFA again stresses that the club CEO must be a signatory to the account.

“Third party interference in decision making of a 1st Division club (Uganda premier League Club) is a key statutory matter which on principle may lead to suspension of the Club,” Fufa warned in a letter.

Minister and Fufa 3rd Vice president Hon. Nakiwala Kiyingi with URA Ag Commissioner General Herbert Rusoke (R) recently

“Article 13 (1) (m) of the FUFA Statutes requires your club (URA FC) as a member of FUFA to have the obligation to manage its affairs not influenced by third parties. FUFA henceforth seeks to be provided with more detailed information on this matter which will be forwarded to the FUFA Legal department for further interpretation and or sanctions as case may be,” the letter further reads.

URA FC CEO Ivan Kakembo, had tried hard to install a vibrant club secretariat –the reason why they got full license for the 2019/20 season on first asking.

“We shall  not be diverted from proffessionalizing the club; huge steps have already been taken towards building  huge brand that every stakeholder will be happy to associate with,” Kakembo said.
