The Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) is holding its 101st Ordinary General Assembly in Hoima, Kitara Region, from today, Friday, July 4 to Saturday, July 5, 2025. The two-day meeting brings together football stakeholders from across the country to assess FUFA’s progress, make key governance decisions, and shape the strategic direction of the sport.
The General Assembly is FUFA’s highest decision-making organ, comprising 88 voting delegates drawn from various parts of Uganda’s football ecosystem. These include 16 delegates from 1st Division League clubs, 5 from the 2nd Division League, 2 from the National Women Football Leagues, 48 from FUFA Regional Football Associations, and 17 from Special Interest Groups (SIGs). The composition ensures inclusive representation from all sectors of the game.
Delegates and FUFA Executive Committee members are arriving in Hoima today and checking in at Hoima Resort Hotel. Activities on day one include registration, internal meetings, a guided tour of Hoima Stadium, and the inaugural FUFA Stakeholders’ Cup. Media engagements and a welcome dinner are also scheduled later in the evening.
Tomorrow’s program starts early with delegate registration at 7:00 AM, followed by breakfast, group photo sessions, and distribution of delegate materials. Delegates will also submit necessary documentation to FUFA Secretariat staff and participate in flash interviews facilitated by the FUFA Communications Department and FUFA Tv. Invited guests are expected by 8:45 AM, with the General Assembly officially opening at 9:30 AM.
The Assembly holds the authority to amend statutes, approve budgets and activity reports, elect or dismiss Executive and judicial body members, and appoint auditors. It also manages membership affairs and oversees the creation of commercial entities under FUFA. For decisions to be valid, at least 50% of the voting delegates must be present.
Presidential elections at FUFA are held by list. If there is only one candidate list, as is the case this year, the Assembly confirms leadership through acclamation rather than a vote. The current FUFA President is therefore expected to be reaffirmed in office.
The Assembly will close with a media session at 4:00 PM followed by the departure of delegates and guests.
