The Heathens Fanzone, a subscription-based membership club of Heathens Rugby Football Club fans, in partnership with Gaucho Grill, organized a successful team bonding event for the Heathens Rugby Football Club.
Dubbed the ‘Heathens Team Bonding,’ the event took place on Friday, April 7, 2023, to congratulate the team on the 2021/22 Unbeaten NSRPL Championship and Silver in the National 7s, as well as clinching the 2022/23 Uganda Cup and their now-table-topping performance this season, and to boost the team’s morale ahead of the crucial final 5 games of the season.
“We thought we would do something special for the team to celebrate their recent critical win over the KOBs and to help them prepare for the remaining games of the season,” said Edward Kiwanuka, Vice Chairman of the Heathens Fanzone Executive Committee.
“Our partnership with Gaucho Grill provided the perfect setting for an intimate team bonding session where the players could relax, bond, and enjoy a delicious meal, and we are grateful for them.”
The event was attended by a majority of the Heathens Rugby Football Club team and technical management, as well as Kyadondo Rugby Club Vice Chairman, Emma Baine, who expressed his satisfaction with the initiative.
“As Kyadondo, we are proud of the efforts of fans’ Excom, and we fully support their endeavours to contribute to the team’s on and off-pitch successes,” said Baine.
Speaking on behalf of the players present, Prop Peter Bisaso said, “Thank you so much to the fans, and the management of Gaucho Grill for putting this together. We are grateful for such a priceless gesture and we promise you even more of our best to close out the season.”
The team also received words of encouragement and motivation from their Head Coach, Mohamed Athio, who praised the team’s recent performance and reminded them of the importance of team spirit and unity.
“Our recent win was a testament to the hard work and dedication of the team, and I am confident that with continued teamwork and support, we will emerge victorious in the remaining games of the season,” said Athio.
Desire Derekford Mugumisa, a Heathens Rugby Football Club fan, was also in attendance and expressed his admiration for the team’s efforts.
“As fans, we are proud of the team’s recent win and the dedication they have shown throughout the season to bounce back from that false start. We shall continue to support and cheer them on until the end when we claim what is ours – the championship,” said Mugumisa.
The Heathens Team Bonding was a huge success and demonstrated the importance of team bonding and unity in sports.
