Heathens have maintained their lead at the top of the 2022 Nile Special Rugby Premier League table after thrashing struggling Warriors 77-03 on Wednesday at Kyadondo Rugby Club in Kampala.

The win affirms Heathens’ spot at the summit with 19 points, one ahead of second placed Stanbic Black Pirates after four matches and the pair are the only unbeaten sides in the men’s top tier division so far. Warriors are however at the rock bottom with no point.

Heathens, dubbed the yellow machine ran in 13 tries and converted six times while Warriors’ only point came from a second half penalty kick.

Tries from Joaquim Chisano, Nicolas Kato, UCU Romano, Santos Senteza, Cyrus Wathum, Innocent Gwokto and conversions from Joseph Oyet and Chris Lubanga earned Heathens a commanding 34-00 half time lead.

In the second half, Heathens were even more ruthless as they posted 43 points on the board against Warriors’ three, thanks to tries from Scout Olwoch, Innocent Gwokto, Joseph Oyet, Sulaiman Ngobi, Akera Komakech, Reynolds Kato and Michael Wokorach and two tries apiece from Kato and Oyet. Richard Kinyai scored Warriors penalty as the home side won the tie 77-03.

Meanwhile, after registering back to back defeats on match day two and three, title holders Kobs returned to winning ways with a 28-13 victory over Rams at Legends. The former are now fourth on the 10-team table with 12 points while the latter are ninth with only a point.

In a lunch time encounter at Kyadondo, Buffaloes handed Mongers their first loss of the season off a 15-10 defeat. The latter are still third on the table with 14 points while the former are sixth with 10 points.

At Dam Waters in Jinja, Hippos picked a slim 18-14 win over Rhinos while Pirates beat Impis 15-09 at Kings Park, Bweyogerere. Hippos are seventh on the table with nine points, Rhinos are fifth with 10 points while Impis are eighth with four points.
