The inaugural FUFA Women Super League commenced on the high over the weekend with goals in all the four fixtures played on Saturday and Sunday.

Holders (FUFA Women Elite league) UCU Lady Cardinals defeated She Corporate 1-0 in Mukono on Saturday with Kenyan born forward and skipper Maureen Kinavudori’s heading home the winner in the 78th minute.

Kampala Queens players celebrating Fauzia Najjemba’s goal against Olila HS WFC

Kampala Queens came from a goal down to overcome Olila High school 2-1 at the IUIU Grounds, Kabojja. Olila led in the 34th minute through Sharon Achen before Kampala Queens equalized in the 61st minute through Fauzia Najjemba penalty.

With four minutes to full time, Amangat Marion brought down Kampala Queens forward Lillian Mutuuzo inside the area. New signing Fauzia Najjemba was again tasked with the kick that she converted.

In the other matches, Kawempe Muslim Ladies FC managed to beat the visitors Uganda Martyrs High school 2-0 at Kawempe Muslim SS Ground. Juliet Nalukenge scored a brace for the four-time league champions in the 23rd and 75th minutes respectively.

At IUIU Kabojja, Fazila Ikwaput handed the visitors Lady Doves three points with the first hat trick of the season as the 2017 Airtel FUFA women player of the year netted in the 16th, 78th, 90th minutes respectively.

Lady Doves lead the log with 3 points and 3 goal difference after Match Day one with Kawempe Muslim Ladies, Kampala Queens, UCU Lady Cardinals in second, third and fourth place respectively. Ikwaput leads the scorers’ chart with 3 goals followed by Najjemba and Nalukenge with two.

The opening fixtures registered nine goals and six Clubs managed to hit the net. Only two clubs failed to score –Mutesa I Royal University and Uganda Martyrs high school. Action resumes this weekend with three fixtures on card.

Mutesa I Royal take on Kawempe Muslim Ladies at IUIU Ground in Kabojja, Uganda Martyrs host Kampala Queens at UMHS Ground in Rubaga while Lady Doves shall host She Corporate in Masindi at Katusabe Dove Stadium.
