JBG Golf Tournament tips off

The 22nd edition of JBG Golf Tournament tips off this Thursday till Saturday at Entebbe Golf Club. The event was launched on Wednesday morning at the JBG (GAUFF Group) offices in Kololo, Kampala, will be played on stableford -full handicap mode.

The event will see professionals (pros) tee off on Thursday before gross players tee off on Friday. JBG unveiled a Shs20m package for the pros category to commemorate their 40-year anniversary. GAUFF Consultants Limited (GCU) Managing Director Emmanuel Mugamba is confident that this weekend’s open is a huge plus to both the golfing and engineering communities.

“We are very happy with what we do,’ Mugamba told the media, adding that the JBG Open is one of the unique golf experience on Uganda Golf calendar. Entebbe Golf Club Chairman Twinemanzi Tumubweine revealed that the event is a big deal the par 71 course. “JBG is a great event for the club,” Twinemanzi noted, adding that features like the water fountain at the 18th hole among others are initiatives of the JBG.

Dr. Ulrich Salzer who, represented the GAUFF family, was appreciative to all the parties that have helped the event come this far. However, Hong Kong born golfer Garret Chen and Uganda Golf Ladies Union (ULGU) president Eva Magala were last year’s best male and female golfers respectively.

Chen out-competed a total of 246 golfers to claim the overall crown with 41 points while Magala scooped 38 points to beat all the ladies.

Joel Basalaine emerged gross winner with a total gross of 147, Philip Kasozi – 215 gross emerged the winner in pros category whilst Mariera Isaac managed.
