Kasawo Islamic Secondary School, Mukono are ready to host over 50 schools that will partake in the 2019 Uganda Muslim Education Association (UMEA) games due April 18-23. Kasawo Islamic Director Hajj Kassim Kajaya confirmed, during the launch of the games yesterday at Kibuli SSS, that the venue is ready with necessities in place. “The grounds for all the games to be played are ready and we are ready to receive all the participating schools. We urge the students, who will take part to ensure maximum discipline so that we can have a successful event,” noted Kajaya, whose school hosts the games for the first time. UMEA games treasurer Hajj Hussein Lwembawo said that Kasawo Islamic was nominated during last year’s edition at Nkoma SSS in Mbale. “We want to promote our Islamic based schools and to encourage them participate in national sports competitions. Therefore, we urge the schools to register only eligible students,” he noted. The organizing committee visited the school facilities on three occasions before approving them as hosts, according to UMEA Secretary General Hajji Abubakar Kakembo. Schools will take part in football, volleyball, netball, badminton, tennis and handball. Bulo Parents and Kawempe Muslim are the male and female football defending champions respectively, Mbogo mixed won both the male and female table tennis, Kibuli SSS won both girls and boys badminton, Kinawa High school and Mbogo mixed won the Girls and Boys handball respectively while Ngando Wamala SS won the netball title. Kibuli SSS were however crowned the overall champions.
