KCCA Target Good Start As UPL Returns

KCCA FC willl travel to Kavumba for their opening game of the 2020/21 Uganda Premier League (UPL) season against Bright Stars on Thursday, 3rd December 2020.

Ahead of kick-off, KCCA FC coach Mike Mutebi is confident that his side are in good shape for the league and could go on to win the title at the end of the season.

“I believe we have prepared very well for the league and other tournaments, the players and technical staff have undergone COVID-19 tests. The new signings have managed to fit in well and are eager to play not to warm the bench here,” Mutebi told the media during the club’s press conference on Wednesday at the MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo.

Last season, KCCA FC were winless against Bright Stars, picking one draw at home and losing away.

As the two sides clash again, Mutebi is wary of Bright Stars’ resilience but won’t let history repeat itself.

“They (Bright Stars) have always given us a problem. However, we have to do our best to overcome our first game,” Mutebi said.

Ahead of kick-off, Mutebi believes that the new charges his side acquired in the transfer window are a good addition to the team as they seek to deepen their squad depth. KCCA new signings are; Moses Kalanzi, Juma Balinya, Dominic Ayella, Mugume Ashraf, Lwanga Charles, Mazengo Stefano Loro, Iguma Dennis, Bright Anukani (loan), Brian Aheebwa and Kigozi Samson.

Meanwhile, Mutebi has predicted a tight race to the title this season saying that rival sides too have what it takes to emerge at the top of the table.
UPL, just like other sports events will be played without fans as a COVID-19 preventive measure.
