Day Two of the Sky View Girls Schools Cricket Week produced a flurry of standout performances, with a maiden century from Light Secondary School opener Kongai and a five-wicket haul from Jinja SS’s Biribawa dominating proceedings across multiple venues.
The tournament, organised under Cricket Uganda, continued to showcase rising talent in Uganda’s girls’ school cricket system, with dominant wins, record scores, and landmark individual achievements defining the day.
Defending champions Light SS delivered the biggest batting statement of the tournament so far, posting a commanding 216/4 against Kasese SS. The total, the highest recorded in the competition to date, was anchored by Kongai’s brilliant century.
The opener struck 13 fours and 2 sixes in a fluent innings, becoming the first centurion of this year’s tournament and guiding her side to a 185-run victory that kept them top of Group B.
Record champions Jinja SS continued their strong run with a comprehensive 143-run win over Ndejje SS, powered by Biribawa’s five-wicket haul.
Jinja SS posted 154/9 before dismantling Ndejje for just 11 runs in 8.2 overs, a performance that pushed them to the top of Group C with six points.
Olila High School delivered another dominant performance, thrashing Rwenzori HS by 171 runs. After setting 206, they bowled out their opponents in just 10 overs.
Lucy Agwang (67 off 44) and Devine Nyamer (52 off 31) led a shared batting effort, helping Olila remain second in Group A behind Masindi SS.
Masindi SS continued their perfect start, with Gloria Abicier claiming a hat-trick in a 60-run victory over St. Cornelius. The performance followed teammate Peace Ninsima’s earlier hat-trick, marking the second of the tournament.
