Uganda Premier League
Kyetume FC vs Mbarara City FC
Nakisunga Play Grounds, Mukono
Wednesday, 16-06-2021

Kyetume FC will be out to better their chances of avoiding relegation when they host Mbarara City FC at the Nakisunga Play Grounds on Wednesday.

The Slaughters have spent almost the entire second round in the relegation zone and are hoping to put up a decent run in the last four games so as to avoid the drop.

Currently, they sit in 14th, with 23 points, three adrift of 13th placed Busoga United with both sides having played 26 points.

Before the league break, they had won only once in their last six outings (D1 L4). The victory came in their last home game, stunning title chasing URA 1-0.

Ahead of the game, stand-in head coach Jackson Mayanja is optimistic his side can beat the drop.

“We know the situation we are in at the moment and the players know what they need to do. Mayanja said.

“It is not going to be easy but we need to take care of business especially at home.

“Our first task we be trying to take all three points against Mbarara who are usually a tough team to beat but we will try to do exactly that.”

Mbarara will indeed be a hard nut to crack especially during to their most-recent run of form.

The Ankole Lions went into the break on the back of a three game winning run, one that saw them defeat Onduparaka FC, Vipers SC and Police FC.

Their away form has however been less impressive as they have won just one in their last five (D2 L2).

Currently, Livingstone Mbabazi’s side sit 9th on the log with 35 points.

The meeting on Wednesday with be the fourth between the two sides.

All the first three have resulted into home victories including a 2-1 win for Mbarara earlier in the season.
