The national women’s rugby XVs team alias Lady Rugby Cranes side has been trimmed to 30 players (from 32) ahead of international engagements.

Head Coach Leonard Lubambula has reduced the initial squad from the first camp by two players with the second camp due in a short time.

Last week, a squad of 32 players was summoned for the first camp in Jinja and two trial games were played. It is from this camp that players were evaluated for national team selection.

“The selected 30 players are going to drive us to the set goal for this year’s campaign. The team is a mixture of experienced and new players which gives a solid step into next year’s 2022 campaign that starts the rugby World Cup cycle,” Coach Leonard Lubambula told Uganda Rugby Union (URU) website.

Another purpose of the camps is also to transition players from the 10s version of rugby they have recently been competing locally to the 15s version.
