Hon. Moses Hassim Magogo has been re-elected as President of the Federation of Uganda Football Associations (FUFA) for the 2025–2029 term, extending his leadership of the country’s football governing body into a third decade. In a message delivered to stakeholders following his election, Magogo expressed gratitude for the continued support and reflected on the federation’s journey over the past 12 years under his stewardship.
He credited FUFA’s recent success to technical knowledge gained through experience and training, disciplined leadership, and an unwavering passion to uplift Ugandan football. He noted that what once seemed impossible when he took office in 2013 has now become basic and achievable, pointing to various reforms and innovations that have since transformed the local football landscape.
“We have introduced innovations and engineered changes that some thought were impossible or not priorities. The outcome has vindicated our efforts,” he said.
Magogo acknowledged the contributions of both internal and external stakeholders in shaping the sport’s trajectory, adding that football is now at a stage that demands unity, attention to detail, and forward-thinking strategies. He emphasized that the sport thrives on collective energy and collaboration rather than blame games or individual accolades.
Despite the achievements, he warned that challenges remain—particularly around financial sustainability and competitiveness at the international level. He stressed the need to commercialize and professionalize club football, pointing out that clubs require more revenue to grow and compete beyond Uganda’s borders. With the country’s football infrastructure steadily improving, he believes the moment is right to generate new resources and embrace change that benefits all levels of the game.
“With improved infrastructure, now is the right time to drive change and generate more resources,” Magogo stated. “Club football must be able to sustain itself and compete internationally.”
In seeking support for his new term, Magogo unveiled a five-pillar vision aimed at guiding FUFA through its next chapter. This vision includes implementing the FUFA Technical Master Plan, reforming competitions, prioritizing revenue generation, enhancing the FUFA brand, and ensuring fair compensation for stakeholders. He also underscored the significance of Uganda’s upcoming role as co-host of the CHAN and AFCON 2027 tournaments, describing them as transformative opportunities for the sport in the country.
He pledged to deepen stakeholder engagement, consolidate the federation’s achievements, and tackle lingering issues such as limited resources, negative mindsets, and threats to the game’s integrity. Reaffirming his personal commitment, Magogo said he has sacrificed his private and professional life for the game and remains eager to serve with even more energy and determination.
Calling on both voting and non-voting stakeholders to rally behind his administration, Magogo expressed confidence that, working together, Ugandan football can unlock its full potential and build a brighter, more competitive future.
