MASAZA CUP: BUWEKULA APPOINT KAFEERO AS HEAD COACH
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Four (4) days after missing on appointing Simon Ddungu, Buwekula Football Club have officially announced the appointment of Robert “Capero” Kafeero as their head coach, ahead of the 2020 Buganda Masaza Cup.

The appointment of Coach Kafeero was confirmed on the morning of Wednesday 6th, May 2020.

Kafeero, a CAF C license holder, was on the list of coaches on the verge of joining Busiro FC as the assistant head coach, but turned down the offer.

Kafeero is famously known as the coach who inflicted the sacking of Edward Golola from Vipers SC, a Uganda Premier League side, when his side then, Kajjansi United, a Regional League side, eliminated the former in the Stanbic Uganda Cup Round of 64 in the 46th edition.

Kafeero has previously worked with URA Football Club as the fitness coach in 2013, Mumusa Secondary School, and Lweza Football Club.

At Buwekula, Kafeero will be working with Ismail “Musota” Ssenyange as the goalkeeping coach, with the other coaching staff yet to be announced.

Kafeero’s major task will be guiding Buwekula to their maiden title. Their (Buwekula’s) best performance was finishing as the runners-up in 2012, when they lost to Bulemeezi in the final.

Last year, Bulemeezi defeated Busiro to be crowned the Masaza Cup champions.

The 2020 Buganda Masaza Cup will most probably kick off in June at the Kasana Grounds in Luwero if the lockdown is eased.

As per the norm, the defending champions, Bulemeezi, and the yet-to-be identified opponent, will lock horns.

His Majesty the Kabaka of Buganda, Ronald Muwenda Mutebi Kimera II, will grace the opening match.
