Misagga bashes Magogo after match fixing FUFA summons

Nyamityobora FC President Eng. Ben Misagga says that his open desire to replace Eng. Moses Magogo as FUFA President is the reason for the summons extended to him.

Fufa boss Moses Magogo

FUFA has summoned Misagga on Wednesday over allegations of match fixing allegations which he believes is as a result of his open FUFA presidential ambitions.

According to the summons seen bySportsOcean, dated May 28, the disciplinary charges follow investigatory chamber of the ethics committee’s report.

“The Adjudicatory chamber of ethics committee is scheduled to hear charges from the report that averts that; whilst acting as SC Villa official, Ben Misagga attempted to influence a match official so as to obtain an improper advantage for SC Villa during the match involving SC Villa which was played in Jinja, contrary to the FUFA ethics code,” reads part of the summons signed by Darius Ruta, the chairperson Adjudicatory Chamber Ethics Committee.

The allegations are against the FUFA ethics code on manipulation of football matches or competition.

The former SC Villa president has been summoned to appear before the committee for hearing at FUFA House, Mengo on June 6. In an exclusive interview, Misagga said that: “Magogo only fears standing against him and will do anything to soil or block any potential successor outside his line. That is just crafted to soil my name or impose a ban so that I do not sit in the forth coming assembly to enable them pass dubious decisions and regulations.” Misagga denied knowledge of nay referee dealt with for match fixing and is ready to face the committee. “The summons was sent to me on mail unlike others delivered to my office, there is no time, they do not specify which season; I spent four years as SC Villa president and I do not know which season they are talking about. Of course this is meant to distract me from FA presidential ambitions and the ongoing High court case where I sued FUFA, Fufa Super League and StarTimes over the UPL sponsorship deal commission. Magogo should allow divergent views and positive criticism. He should led interested candidates to stand against him and he beats them to the vote if he believes he has done wonders rather than move to block them. They say I do not have qualifications, but again, they want to block me,” added Misagga.

KCCA FC Manager Mike Mutebi earlier in the concluded season alleged that most of the league titles won in the recent past was a result of match fixing and he claimed that the vice is only going down.
