Mpigi Zone wraps up Ball Games II Qualifiers

On Thursday, Mpigi Zone completed the qualifiers for the upcoming Ball Games II at St. Joseph of Nazareth in Mpigi district. The final day saw competitions in athletics, 3×3 basketball, beach soccer, and dance sport.

Earlier matches for volleyball, netball, and under-16 football were held at Bukandula Mixed and Kabulasoke PTC in Gomba district.

Royal Giant High School Mityana clinched the boys’ football title with a 2-0 victory over Kisozi Seed School, while Highway SS Kiganda from Mubende triumphed in the girls’ category.

“We are extremely grateful for the competitive spirit and are eagerly anticipating our teams’ participation in Soroti. Our heartfelt thanks go out to the directors, headteachers, and games teachers of the participating schools,” remarked Ssebanenya Vincent, Mpigi Zone Chairperson.

Schools that competed in netball included Ssingo SS, Kyasanku Hill College, Shammah High, Wamatovu Muslim, Bageza Seed, St. Thereza Kungu, St. Balikuddembe Mitala Maria, Kibibi Standard SS, Mpigi Light College, and Ngando SS, with the latter emerging victorious in the girls’ category.

In football, schools such as Kisozi Seed, Ngando SS, Butawuka Magezi, Mubende Army, St. Balikudembe Mitala Maria, Bulo Parents, Gombe SS, and Royal Giant Mityana competed, with Royal Giant Mityana taking the boys’ title.

The volleyball boys’ competition saw participation from Wamatovu Muslim SS and St. Balikuddembe.

The Most Valuable Players were:

  • Beach Soccer: Atiku Fred (St. Lawrence Paris Palais)
  • Dance Sport (Girls): Ishimwe Shamim (St. Lawrence Paris Palais)
  • Dance Sport (Boys): Ntulume (St. Lawrence Crown City)

Mpigi will be represented by the following schools:

  • Netball: Ngando SS and Gombe SS
  • Boys’ Football: Royal Giant Mityana and Kisozi Seed SS
