KCCA FC strengthened their push for a strong finish to the 2025/26 league season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Maroons FC at MTN Omondi Stadium, Lugogo on Thursday night.
Ashraf Mugume, Herbert Achayi and Ivan Ahimbisibwe were all on target as KCCA produced a composed display in their penultimate home game of the campaign to move to 55 points with three matches left to play.
The hosts started brightly, with Shafik Kwikiriza causing problems early on, while Mugume came close with an effort that sailed over the bar. KCCA continued to press and nearly found the breakthrough midway through the first half when Sserunjogi’s free-kick was tipped away by Maroons goalkeeper Tamale.
KCCA eventually broke the deadlock in first-half stoppage time. Gavin Kizito’s long ball found Ahimbisibwe, who headed it into Mugume’s path before the midfielder nodded home to give the hosts a deserved lead heading into the break.
Maroons attempted to respond after halftime, but KCCA goalkeeper Mugolofa Mutwalibi produced a crucial save in the 68th minute to deny Raymond Walugembe.
The introduction of Herbert Achayi later proved decisive as the midfielder marked his return in style. In the 87th minute, Achayi drove forward from midfield before firing a long-range strike into the corner to double KCCA’s advantage.
Ahimbisibwe sealed the victory three minutes later, finishing off a neat pass from Mugume to score his 13th league goal of the season.
Mugume, who finished with a goal and an assist, was named Player of the Match after an influential performance in midfield.
KCCA now turn their attention to next Wednesday’s league encounter against UPDF FC in Bombo.
