African Stars 3-2 KCCA (Agg 3-2)

KCCA FC will hope to build on the two away goals to progress when they host Africa Stars from Namibia in the CAF Champions League, return leg next weekend at their StarTimes stadium, Lugogo.

The reigning Uganda premier league champions were lost 3-2 to the Namibia side last Saturday during the First leg in Windhoek.

Ivan Kamberipa scored an own goal in the 7th minute to give the visitors in the lead. Patrick Kaddu, who converted Sadat Anaku ball in the 83rd minute netted the other goal for KCCA.

Mustafa Kizza, who was later in the game substituted by Ronald Musana injured, saw his effort come off the woodwork while Filbert Obenchan’s effort also deflected off the upright and went out.

The hosts got their first through Ambrosius Amseb from the spot following Peter Magambo’s handball in the box four minutes to half time.

Sadat Anaku missed a golden keeper to beat opportunity to mark a scoring debut at the continent. Ten minutes after Anaku’s miss, Youssouf Ibrahim gave African Stars the lead. The goal came three minutes before play maker Allan Okello was stretchered off injured and replaced by Eric Ssenjobe.

Kaddu saw his other effort cleared off the line before Youssouf grabbed the winner, beating Charles Lukwago with a thunderous shot.

Young center back Samuel Kato on his continental debut had his would be equalizer in the stoppage time cancelled for a hand ball in the build-up.

KCCA manager Mike Mutebi blamed the loss to ‘silly goals’ conceded due to carelessness rather than  opponents’ supremacy and hopes to correct the mistakes during the return leg due August 24.
