Uganda Beach Soccer national team Head Coach Salim Jamal Muwonge is delighted with the preparations the team has had so far.

After a week of residential training at FUFA Technical Centre, Njeru, the gaffer believes the Sand Cranes are in perfect shape.

“Since we arrived here, there is a big difference in terms of fitness levels of players and this is encouraging. I am confident the team will be ready for the upcoming games,” he said.

Muwonge further indicates the technical team has opted to play several friendly games as a way of getting the much needed match fitness and making the players ready for the game.

It from such games that the coach has been able to trim the provisional squad to 17 from the initial 20.

The final travelling squad of 15 will be named before the team departs to Comoros later this week.

The Sand Cranes are preparing to face Comoros in Beach Soccer AFCON 2022 Qualifiers with the first leg slated for Sunday, 24th July in Comoros before a return leg two weeks later in Uganda.

The winner on aggregate will qualify to the final tournament that will be held from 21st to 30th October in Maputo, Mozambique.

Uganda is seeking to return to the final tournament for the second successive time having played at the 2021 edition in Senegal where the team reached the semifinals.
