Last night, the national cricket teams (men and women) gathered together for a dinner hosted by the Cricket Cranes official partner Plascon. The night was filled with food, drinks, and camaraderie between the teams and the officials present.

The event which was held at Rozaho Bistro in Kololo, Kampala was mainly for celebrating the Cricket Cranes 2023 achievements that included the historical qualification for the 2024 T20 World Cup. The Cricket Cranes were also able to defend the Africa Cup for the second time in a row in South Africa.

The dinner was also attended by the Victoria Pearls (women’s team), who also qualified for the Global T20 World Cup Qualifiers.

The dinner was graced by the Plascon Brand Manager Daniel Kayongo, NCS Assistant General Secretary Technical David Katende and UCA officials.

Plascon promised to extend their contract with Cricket for another five years while supporting the Victoria Pearls team as well.

“We are going to add Victoria Pearls to our budget. The details are going to be discussed and we will unveil the package,” Plascon’s Daniel Kayongo noted.

NCS pledged to double their contribution to cricket because of their success to ensure that the success is sustainable.

“Uganda Cricket is the association that was able to conquer the region and the continent. That success has helped Cricket to join the prioritized sports disciplines and that means more financial support,” NCS’ Assistant General Secretary, David Katende said.

The cricket association and their sponsor thanked everyone for attending the dinner and hoped that the teams would continue to do well at various events. With the teams in high spirits for the 2024 events and with their morale boosted, there is no doubt that they will continue to give their best on the field.
