The two oldest cricket clubs will be battling for bragging rights in the 3rd week of the national men’s 50 over league. In the past this used to be a title decider but a lot of water flowed under the bridge and for now this is a six pointer for who will ultimately stay up of the two sides.
Wanderers gained promotion as the runners up from Div. 2 in 2019 while ACC (Africa Cricket Club) who finished 4th were able to come up via the league restructure. ACC went down by six wickets to Ceylon Lions last weekend while Wanderers defeated SKLPS in their 1st game of the season.
There are no favourites in derbies and both sides will surely be out for blood, a lot of friendly fire between both sides because most Wanderers associate themselves with ACC in so many ways.
However, at the end of the day the winner will have gained not just two points but four points that could be crucial in deciding who stays up. This game will be the 1st league match played at the Kyambogo Cricket Oval.
In Entebbe Challengers will take on a buoyant Ceylon Lions fresh from a six wicket win against ACC last weekend. However, Challengers offers a different test for Ceylon Lions and both sides will be looking for a win that puts them in prime position for the league title.
In Lugogo Nyakasura takes on Aziz Damani Development, Nyakasura made light work of the younger Aziz Damani but they will be tested by a stronger side.
The second string side will have the faces from the U-19 World Cup such as Yunus Sowobi, Christopher Kidega taking on their friends Pascal Murungi, Joseph Baguma, Brian Asaba and Mathew Musinguzi. Iva Thawithemwira scored the 1st century of the season and he will be hoping that the carries on the good form.
