NBL: Victoria University compound Falcons plight

Falcons are still winless in the regular season of the Tusker Lite National Basketball League (NBL) after suffering a slim 63-62 loss to Victoria University on Saturday at YMCA basketball court in Wandegeya, Kampala.

After 16 games, Falcons are yet to pick a single victory and are the only winless side across all top tier divisions (men and women). They are at the rock bottom of the 13-team table, joint on points (16) with Ndejje Angels who have however played three games less.

Victoria University on the other hand have improved their survival chances after picking a second straight victory for the first time in the campaign. They are now ninth on the table with 21 points.

“Sharp shooter” Ronald Ayume was the standout player for Victoria University as the side increase their survival chances. He posted 21 points, 3 rebounds and 3 assists and was named Tusker Lite player of the game.

Other top performers for Victoria University included Maker Mayen with 13 points, 13 rebounds and 2 assists and Nyong Marrier with 13 points, 8 rebounds and 1 assist.

In a losing effort, Keneth Mesho led Falcons to a disappointing finish as he shot 19 points, 20 rebounds and 2 assists. Mark Ngobi had 13 points, 3 rebounds and 1 assist whilst Henrison Mbaziira managed 11 points, 2 rebounds and 1 assist.

The Tusker Lite National Basketball League continues this Sunday at the MTN Arena, Lugogo in Kampala.
