The Rugby Cranes are gearing up for a crucial clash this Saturday, November 16, as they face the Kenya Simbas in the decisive return leg of the Elgon Cup at the Kings Park Arena in Kampala.

After a narrow 27-25 loss in Nairobi, Uganda is trailing by just two points on aggregate. With the advantage of playing at home, the Cranes will be looking to overturn the deficit and claim the 2024 title.

Uganda’s leading sports broadcaster, NBS Sport, has confirmed that it will air the match live, making it accessible to rugby fans nationwide.

Victor Akatwijuka, Brand Manager at NBS Sport, expressed enthusiasm about the coverage, saying, “We are thrilled to bring the return leg of the Elgon Cup between the Uganda Cranes and Kenya Simbas to our viewers live. This is just the beginning. In partnership with the Uganda Rugby Union, we are committed to delivering more world-class rugby to Ugandans.”

He added, “This broadcast reinforces our commitment to supporting Ugandan sports and offering premium local content to sports fans across the country.”

The first leg in Nairobi was a thrilling back-and-forth contest, with both teams exchanging leads throughout the match. Uganda, initially trailing, found their rhythm just before halftime, edging ahead with a 14-12 lead.

However, the second half saw a strong push from Kenya, led by Brian Wahinya, who helped the Simbas build a 24-17 advantage. The Cranes fought back to close the gap to 27-25, but couldn’t break through Kenya’s defense in the final moments.

With only a two-point difference on aggregate, the return leg promises another fiercely contested battle. Fans are expected to fill the Kings Park Arena, rallying behind the Cranes in their quest for a comeback victory in the Elgon Cup.

The match will also be available for live streaming on the newly updated Afro Mobile app.
