Excitement is building in Uganda as the grand opening of Hamz Nakivubo Stadium approaches, scheduled for June 1st, 2024. This state-of-the-art facility, formerly known as Nakivubo Stadium at Nakivubo War Memorial Grounds, promises to revolutionize the country’s sporting scene with its modern amenities and versatile capabilities.

The journey to this momentous occasion began with a thorough inspection and official opening ceremony by none other than President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni last month. The First Lady Janet Museveni, who also serves as the Minister of Education and Sports inspected the facility in February.

During their tour of the facility at different intervals, President Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni were impressed by the stadium’s world-class facilities, including cutting-edge training grounds, state-of-the-art locker rooms, and spectator seating designed for optimal viewing experience. Their presence affirmed the importance of Hamz Nakivubo Stadium as a beacon of progress and prosperity for the nation.

As the grand opening approaches, anticipation is high for the array of sporting and entertainment events planned for the occasion. Two football matches, along with boxing and kickboxing events, will showcase the stadium’s versatility and capacity to host a wide range of activities. Attendees can also look forward to plenty of entertainment, ensuring a memorable experience for all.

To ensure the safety and security of all attendees, the stadium will be staffed with highly trained stewards and a robust police presence. International security expert Dixon Bond Okelllo has played a pivotal role in preparing the stewards for their duties, ensuring that Hamz Nakivubo Stadium upholds the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

Stewards and other security personnel are ready to keep fans and revelers safe.

The grand opening of Hamz Nakivubo Stadium marks a significant milestone in Uganda’s sporting landscape, signaling a new era of excellence and opportunity for athletes and fans alike. With its world-class facilities and unwavering commitment to quality, the stadium is poised to become a premier destination for sporting events and entertainment in the region, leaving a lasting legacy for generations to come.
