Uganda is set to host the FIFA Football For Schools (F4S) Programme from June 23rd to 25th, 2024, at the FUFA Technical Centre in Njeru.
In recent weeks, preparations have been intense to ensure the success of this event.
Football for Schools (F4S), an initiative by FIFA in collaboration with UNESCO, aims to educate, develop, and empower approximately 700 million children worldwide. Since its launch in mid-2019 with pilot projects in Puerto Rico and Lebanon, the programme has expanded globally.
Aligned with FUFA’s Technical Master Plan, launched last year, the F4S programme seeks to make football more accessible to both boys and girls. It promotes life skills and competencies through football, contributing to the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and other global priorities.
Key features of the programme include:
- A free digital application (Football for Schools), available on Google Play and the Apple App Store.
- An online learning platform with relevant content for stakeholders.
- Provision of equipment, including adidas footballs, to be distributed to schools.
- A one-off USD 50,000 payment to each Member Association (MA) to run the programme.
A three-person delegation from FIFA, including Antonio Buenano Sanchez (FIFA Football For Schools Manager), Kenny Honore Jean Marie (FIFA Chief Member Associations Officer), and Alberto Giacomini (FIFA Technical Consultant), will attend the launch at FUFA Technical Centre.
The event will feature a two-day workshop where 50 games teachers from the eight FUFA Regions will receive training. The final day will include a football festival and the official launch of the Football For Schools Programme. The trained teachers will then disseminate the knowledge gained to their respective regions.
