CAF Confederations Cup

Saturday, 4pm

Proline vs Masters Security, Lugogo

Fee: Shs10k, 20k, 50k

After 13 years of existence, Proline FC have their dream of playing at the continent realised this Saturday when they host Masters Security FC from Malawi in the First leg of the CAF Confederations Cup Preliminary round.

The game will be Proline’s first ever at the continent and Head Coach Shafik Bisaso believes that his charges have no pressure ahead of the historic tie.

Bisaso told the media on Thursday that they will be going for maximum points whilst entertaining of fans.

“We have no pressure and everyone is ready to deliver. We are going to play our usual game because we believe by playing an entertaining game, we shall get a convincing win,” said Bisaso, who was in company of his teenage captain Nordin Bunjo during the pre-match press.

The Uganda Cup winners registered 22 players for the tournament including new signings; Yusuf Mukisa, Andrew Okiring and Bernard Muwanga on loan from KCCA FC.

Hamis Diego Kiiza and Alfred Leku signed arrived late at the newly promoted side after the CAF registration process had closed.

The duo will thus not be part of the campaign. According to Proline Director Mugib Kasule, participation in the recent 2019 Cecafa Kagame club championship in Rwanda sharpened the boys and gave them confidence for the best at the continent although the club set no minimal campaign target.

“We encourage them to give their best but we are not putting them under pressure. These are young kids, 80% from our academy project and want them to enjoy the moment as they also entertain the fans. In Proline, we believe that playing entertaining football brings results –and that is in our DNA,” Kasule revealed, who also urged Government to help clubs that fly the national flag in such international competitions.

“It is true they have done well with the Cranes, but the Cranes team comes from these clubs which are struggling financially. We employ the youth, make them busy and give them hope. This is tremendous work we do for government and should support us,” he noted.

Kasule also believes that stepping down as the club chairman and head coach is the best decision he has ever done for Proline. Bisaso and Hussein Kato became the Head Coach and chairman respectively and since then, the club has gradually registered success.

Proline who returned to Premier league last season are the reigning FUFA Big league and Stanbic Uganda Cup champions.
