Uganda Premier League side SC Villa has confirmed the appointment of Serbian coach Nemanja Milincic as the new head coach of the club, just a day after parting ways with Morley Byekwaso.
The 37-year-old UEFA A license holder arrives with a wealth of experience as a match analyst and assistant coach, having worked with national teams and clubs across Europe and the Middle East, including Red Star Belgrade, AEK Athens, Al Ahli, and most recently Nepradak FC.
Milincic becomes the fourth Serbian to take charge of the record Uganda Premier League champions, following in the footsteps of Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic, Srdan Zivjnov, and Dusan Stojanovic.
“I am honoured and thrilled to join SC Villa, a club with such a rich history and dedicated fan base,” Milincic said during his unveiling. “I am eager to work with the players, staff and management to build a formidable team that will challenge for every available trophy. I know expectations are high and am committed to delivering success and making our supporters proud.”
Villa President Omar Mandela expressed confidence in the new man at the helm, stating that Milincic’s vision and passion aligned with the club’s ambitions.
“After a thorough selection process, we are confident that Milincic’s experience, vision, expertise and passion for the game will align perfectly with our ambitions,” Mandela noted. “We believe he is the right person to lead our team to new heights both domestically and on the continental stage.”
While the duration and details of his contract were not disclosed, Milincic’s appointment signals a fresh start for SC Villa, who finished sixth in the 2024/25 Uganda Premier League season with 45 points, just behind KCCA FC and URA FC.
His past roles include assistant coach stints with Serbia U-19, FC Koper, OFK Beograd, and the Bulgaria national team, where he served for over a year. Milincic is expected to begin pre-season preparations immediately as Villa looks to rebuild and contend for silverware next season.
